Dr. G. Omkarnath is the Consultant Director, Examination Orientation for MEdRC’s Virtual Medical Education Programmes. He leads a team that analysis each e-Lesson and researches out what questions have ever appeared on this topic in the past and frames new questions that may appear in future in various modes – long questions, short notes, viva voce and multiple choice questions (MCQ’s).
Dr Omkarnath is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for more than 16 years and is currently working as Asst. Professor, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Osmania Medical College and Osmania General Hospital affiliated to Dr. N.T.R. University for Health Sciences, A.P.
In 1985, Dr. Omkarnath set the trend by authoring India’s first ever book for Postgraduate Medical Entrance Examinations (PGMEE) preparation. Thereafter, in the last 21 years he has authored and edited more than 30 books for various PGMEE held all over India covering all medical subjects and specialties.
He has several firsts to his credit – He introduced the concept of adding foot-note answer keys, introduced referenced answers from standard medical text books and even explanatory answers for MCQ’s for PGMEE review books.
Dr. Omkarnath is very active in academic circles – he has organized several Medical Quiz Programmes, CME programmes and edited and published CME Journals. His expertise in this area has been well recognized and he has contributed thousands of MCQs specifically framed for Question Banks of Many Universities and autonomous institutes in India.
Dr. Omkarnath has an in-depth knowledge of every aspect of MCQ setting and has developed methods that allow analysis of previous entrance examination questions and preparation of materials like Quintessential Bits, High Yield Facts and Synopsis in a Nutshell for PG Entrance Books.
Exam orientation brings to MEdRC’s products an all-new perspective, in line with what the student demands from such e-Learning products. MEdRC has digitized Dr. Omkarnath’s entire 30 years of question bank collections into a database spanning all subjects and populated with 2 lakh questions, now allowing Dr. Omkarnath to develop algorithms that provide immense learning opportunities for every student, even giving predictive analysis of the student’s weak areas and contextual advise on which pages of each book to read!
